News just in from the Rat Race HQ:
Well, we have some awesome action lined up for 07. Our first event, down in the South West, will be Bristol as always, however in a break with tradition we are revealing (a little) on the course there - read further below. There's a bit of a giveaway in the date synopsis below! We had such rave reviews of the Manchester Mean Streets last year we thought we would concentrate on it this year and fill it to bursting with the very best high jinx we could find! We will be offering an action-packed Mean Streets event in Manchester and welcoming back the climbers of the Aerial Assault too; this event is a one-day format this year. In Edinburgh, we are back in magnificent Princes Street Gardens with a full-on Gary Tompsett course taking you to pastures anew - there simply is just too much on offer in Edinburgh for us to cram in every year - which means the surprises will just keep coming and coming! As ever, there will be parties and hot tubs, parkour demos and free music at all of our events.
For later on in the year, we have something else for you too; something very very special and we have had this up our sleeve for a while. We WILL be descending on London and we will announce much more on this soon.
We are already well subscribed in all events with almost as many competitors already entered in Edinburgh as entered the race last year! Although we have extended entries on all events, do bear in mind we sold out the races last year so hurry and get that team together!
Course news - Bristol
Well, it's not just Bristol this year! We're not going to tell you much, other than you will be going to the beautiful city of Bath too! This UNESCO World Heritage site will be laid open for you as we invite you to explore narrow alleys, genteel Georgian streets and as the theme in Bath is naturally slightly aquatic, you may get a little wet, too!
Course planning team
We have some new blood on the team this year as well as some old (and very mischievous) hands. Some of these guys are working on top secret Rat Race projects and we consequently we need to keep their identities hidden where they belong, in the sewers! But we can reveal that the races this year will give you action brought to you by our own master of the maps Gary Tompsett in the hot seat, with John Laughlin (ACE Races, Scottish Series and AR World Champs hopeful) at the helm in Bristol, with Jim Godden and Chris Gazely in support. We also welcome Geronimo Sports into the fold in Bristol on promotion. For Manchester we will be working with a multitude of extremists including those climbing nutters X1 Sports. Our man in the know Craig Zielinski will be the man behind the mayhem - and what mayhem he provided last year - he was responsible for all those short back and sides for those of you who encountered the notorious "head shave" checkpoint.
Ellis Brigham are proud to announce and sponsour our very own race team. Click below to find out who they are and follow the progress of each race told by themselves.
