The range of skiing equipment featured over the following web pages is the most interesting, exciting and complete we have ever put together. It represents the very latest, most progressive and best products available, and combined with the expertise of our staff, makes Ellis Brigham the essential place to shop this winter.

Each ski has been carefully selected and every model epitomises quality, performance and value. The result is possibly the biggest range of freeride, freestyle and women’s specific models you’ll see this year. And, of course, you shouldn’t forget the huge choice of all-mountain and all-mountain carving skis either.

Apart from carrying the best range of skis in the UK, we also offer the best range of demo skis available to Demo for Free* before you buy on the UK’s four premier indoor snow slopes (*see page 143 for details).
We have boots for virtually every size, shape and ability of skier. Our range includes the biggest brand names and some you may not have considered before, chosen because we know they fit and will perform. There are innovative new models, attention-grabbing reworks, and confirmed favourites. Our boot techs are skilled and motivated, and they know exactly how to select and fit a boot that will be perfect for your needs.

We’re very proud of this range of equipment and to ensure it is presented properly we also make sure we’re very proud of our staff. Our staff training is in-depth and constant, involving on-snow tests, seminars, forums and one-to-one lessons. The latest techniques are studied and the best methods are applied. The result is some of the most skilled and expert staff in the industry.

We hope you enjoy reading through the following (web) pages and we look forward to seeing you in one of our stores, as well as out on the slopes!

2007 SKI TESTS (full reports)

Testing for this season started back in January 2007. Trips to Sweden, Austria (4 times!) and Canada involved staff, instructors, friends and professional freeskiers. All abilities were covered and every style was seen. 100’s of skis were thoroughly tested, pistes carved up and parks lapped; powder runs were skied till no fresh snow remained and all the conditions and terrain in between were savoured and enjoyed. The end result is a range that surpasses anything we have stocked before, representing the best skis available and some of the most interesting and appealing choices you’ll find this season.

Training began in June with a 5 day staff test on the Stubai glacier and it’s followed up by regular indoor demos at our UK slope stores. Austria in early summer is the perfect place for in-depth training, with all day skiing, no queues and deserted pistes. Staff from all stores made the trip, gaining first-hand knowledge of the range, and getting the experience necessary to provide you with accurate information.

2006 SKI TESTS

Ski testing is, without a doubt, our favourite time of the year. We get to try all the latest equipment in some amazing locations, with great people. To collect this seasons’ range we started back in January. This involved trips to France, Switzerland, and Canada, though the biggest and most eagerly anticipated are the ones in Italy and Austria.

Snowsports Industries of GB Ski Test, Pila, Italy. March 2006
100’s of skis, 13 different brands – all lined up for retailers and press to demo. We took a team of experienced testers, consisting of ex-racers, instructors, freestylers and freeriders, male and female. The brief was an obvious one: select the very best skis in every category.
Conditions were perfect and we got to try the skis in all the environments that suited them best. Piste skis were cranked-over on perfect groomed snow, all-mountain skis were pushed everywhere, freeride skis ran laps through deep, fresh powder, and twin tips stalled walls, popped off kickers and launched over cowsheds!
The results were excellent and left us in no doubt what to stock.

Ellis Brigham Staff Ski Test, Stubai Glacier, Austria. June 2006
With staff from all over the country, we pulled together a group of nearly 40 testers to fine-tune the range and prepare for the next season. Once again, we were blessed with the weather and arrived on the glacier to 3 foot of cold, deep powder. What followed were 5 days of perfect testing conditions: no lift queues, empty corduroy pistes, gorgeous blue skies, first lines on fresh snow, and, of course, Jagermeister. By the end of the trip, we had a lot of happy skiers (with first-hand knowledge of the skis in our racks) and complete satisfaction in the range.

SIGB Test March 2005, Pila, Italy
This year we took our most experienced team ever with a mix of sexes, instructors, freestylers and ex-racers to the Italian resort of Pila. They may not have seen much snow fall in the weeks prior to the trip but the pistes were perfect for testing, and with over 15 brands represented it was an extremely busy week. After Pila the testing begins to change focus, and switches from the initial selection to training and fine-tuning. And, as with last year, we visited the Stubai glacier in Austria to do just that.

Ellis Brigham Staff Glacier Test June 2005, Stubai, Austria
We had nearly 30 testers and almost 100 pairs of skis with us for 5 days skiing at the beautiful glacier resort of Stubai. The week is centred on training, with lots of specialist advice and staff present, including talks from Industry experts every evening, and by the end of the time there everyone knows the new range and has experienced it on snow.
